Mike Skinner, Actress, Kelela, Floating Points, Ryan Hemsworth, Doc Daneeka + more.
The more mysterious the party location sounds, the more likely you’ll actually find yourself in east London. So it is with this new two-day metro-festival. ‘Elsewhere’ isn’t a mystical other – it’s just a cluster of Hackney venues, including The Laundry, Oslo, London Fields Brewery, Hackney Picturehouse and the London Fields Pub.
What makes it noteworthy is the eye-popping collection of acts playing. Elsewhere has secured a huge coup in the form of a rare live show from LA-based singer Kelela, whose dazzling ‘Cut 4 Me’ mixtape of last year finally delivered a record of substance in the much-hyped and nebulous genre of futuristic R&B. The line-up of DJs working it across the various venues is just as impressive, with singular selectors such as Floating Points and Andy Blake joining techno dream-weaver Actress, new-school house heroes Leon Vynehall and Ryan Hemsworth and even a set from The Streets’ Mike Skinner thrown in too. Elsewhere? Where else but Hackney?
