Despite a somewhat agonising slo-mo initial split – with iconic guitarist Graham Coxon jumping ship before ‘final’ album ‘Think Tank’ – Blur have proved to be one of the more amicable of the great Britpop bands, with a lengthy period of on/off reunion between 2008 and 2016 that yielded several memorable gigs and tours and a decent amount of new material, including 2015’s excellent album ‘The Magic Whip’. After what is now the longest period that they’ve spent apart since forming in 1988, the quartet have reconvened for a 2023 European tour that sees them headline Wembley Stadium for the first-ever time, with an impressive supporting line-up of slowthai, Self Esteem, and Jockstrap.
With no new music (currently) announced and heavy deployment of old photos from their ’90s heyday, expect an unabashedly rabble-rousing, greatest hits-centric series of gigs from Damon Albarn, Alex James, Dave Rowntree and the long returned to the fold Coxon.
