This artfully bombastic, Manchester-based, 14-piece big band band debunk any stuffy notions that such brass-heavy units are automatically uncool. Conducter/composer Ben Cottrel brillianly combines narrative drama with a deft blend of hip hop, cop-show funk, expansive modal jazz and the odd Radiohead cover, all swept along by some truly exciting young players possessed of a rare onstage energy and joy.
