The first gig of the year in one of the most interesting spaces to currently hear folk and 'world' music – the Brunel Museum's concert hall beneath the Thames. Belgian oud player Tristan Driessens and Scandinavian and French dance music specialist Wim Baeck (who switches between various fiddles and jew's harp) play skin-tingling instrumental folk dances infused with the melodic complexity of Arabic makam music. They'll be playing from their new album for Appel Records. (Also playing The Horseshoe on May 9 and Chats Palace on May 11.)
