Lancashire's answer to Lucinda Williams returns to plug fifth album 'Old Sticks to Scare a Bird', produced by Cornershop's Alan Gregson and seeing her husky voice roam through everything from cute love songs to angry political ballads and eight-minute epics. Hailed by Bob Harris as one of Britain's best singers, Palmer continues to linger just under the radar while producing some of the most well-read folk fare in the business (check out 2006's 'Tale of Light & Darkness' if you're a fan of Steinbeck, Poe or Bulgakov).
