Green Man wins our unofficial prize for best festival setting: it's in the beautiful parkland setting of the Black Mountains (not usually open to the public), nestled in the resplendent Brecon Beacons. The beauteous, chlorophyllic location underlines the festival's staunchly eco-friendly ethos, and the eclectic, left-leaning bill befits the vibe, with plugged-in bands and electro DJs playing alongside earthy folk balladeers. Among this year’s big acts, electropop favourites Hot Chip shake things up with their synthy melodies and St Vincent brings her soaring vocals and weird-but-it-works songcraft to south Wales – plus Cardiff indie oddballs Super Furry Animals playing a Saturday night headline show on home turf.
