Giving London 2012 a whole different flavour, this year's Tranny Olympics will be an unforgettable celebration of the sheer stamina, nerve and talent of the East End of London's trans nightlife Olympians. Featuring performances from Horrorchata (NYC), Polly Sexual (London), Babes Trust (NYC), Svetlana Pall Mall (Berlin), Holestar (London) and Stephanie Carter (London). DJs Princess Julia, the boys behind Dirt Box, Sky Mall (NYC) and Adidi (NYC). The spectacular opening ceremony will be followed by competitions in which audience members will be competing in the following categories: Throwing Shade, Vegan Eating Contest, Lip Sync for your Life and the infamous Wet T-Shirt Competition. Started by Polly Sexual & Babes Trust in London in 2008, the Tranny Olympics has spread internationally- and notoriously- to Berlin, Stockholm & NYC. Originally, it was created to make a space for the queers of London and draw attention to controversial gender testing in the Olympics. The Tranny Olympics is open for everyone and is a party to celebrate the whole spectrum of gender expressions including the occasional cross dresser, the fishy drag queen, mustachioed kings, bearded ladies, transsexuals, transgender, travestis and everyone in between. Over the last 5 years the Tranny Olympics has developed into a network of underground performance artists and continues to support up and coming queer artists, musicians, drag kings and queens and DJs in London and elsewhere.
