You may not know the name David McKee, but you’ll certainly know the colourful characters he created from Elmer the multicoloured elephant, Bernard and Mr Benn. This major retrospective at the Horniman Museum celebrates David McKee’s striking illustrations and over 30 years of Elmer the Patchwork Elephant. Visitors can walk through Elmer’s jungle, meeting characters and hearing stories along the way, and also see illustrations from other children’s classics ‘Not Now’, ‘Bernard’, an original storyboard of ‘King Rollo’ and the opportunity to visit the fancy dress costume shop featured in ‘Mr Benn’.
