Away from Lisbon’s busiest avenues, but only five minutes from two metro stations, this pensão’s neat and clean rooms were all recently refurbished and now come with TV and free Wi-Fi. You can book a wheelchair-accessible en suite room for a few extra euros. Breakfast is no longer provided, but there are plenty of cafés in the area. The Azorean owners are friendly (and gay-friendly too) and transmit their can-do attitude to the staff. Pets are also allowed. There are also three nearby apartments available to rent from €60 for three beds – even better value.
