Modern, modish and moderately priced – that’s the Mayflower Group for you. This is its Bayswater baby. It looks very cool, however, and it is a fantastically comfortable place to stay. The lobby and lounge are slick and glamorous – there’s a beautiful teak arch in the lounge and the rooms are low-key with some vibrant, twirly eastern influences. Some of the larger family rooms retain their elaborate period pillars and cornicing. The bathrooms are a symphony in marble; the walk-in showers have deluge heads. There’s a pleasant little patio, upstairs at the back, for morning coffee and evening drinks.
