Location, location, location…. Knightsbridge may not be everyone’s idea of the real London, but for posh shoppers, super car watchers and museum goers it can’t be beaten.
The Jumeirah Lowndes is tucked away on one the areas most gloriously tranquil squares. The 88 rooms are comfortable bordering on roomy for this part of town and some boast balconies with views on the leafy hood. Guests also get access to The Peak Health Club & Spa at the nearby Jumeirah Carlton Tower which has a lap pool, golf simulator and glorious views over south London.
The small Lowndes Bar & Kitchen, serves a great breakfast best enjoyed from the terrace where you can ogle the moneyed locals scampering from town house to Range Rover. During the summer, a barbecue grill is fired up on the large rear terrace and burgers, steaks and chicken are added to the menu.
The Lowndes probably won’t win any awards for originality, but for a pleasant, peaceful night right in the centre it delivers.
