Gimmick? Genuine convenience? We’re still unde- cided about the central feature of this new hotel ‘concept’ by budget chain Premier Inn: it’s all run by an app, from booking and checking in to basic room controls (temperature, light, food orders, entertain- ment) – it even gives you a guide to the local area. The rooms owe plenty to the pod hotels that started appearing a few years ago and so they’re small, but they’re also well designed (luggage storage under the bed and so on) and they are keenly priced for such a central location.
