Turn the corner past the pleasant Greystoke pub and up to Hanger Lane and a surprise awaits. At this junction of bucolic west London and traffic-choked North Circular, where once the prosaic Glencairn Hotel was a popular stop for lonely truck drivers, is now a contemporary, design-led hotel. True, it ticks the boxes of many of London’s other contemporary, design-led hotels – L'Occitane bath products, sheets of Egyptian cotton, 24hr lounge bar – but considering the price and location, this is no bad thing at all. Individuality is provided by the modern canvases of Indian artist Sudhir Deshpande, the natural woods that are integral to the design of Babettli Azzone, and a lovely landscaped garden.
