This Grade II-listed Georgian house has been transformed into a smart, urbane and rather masculine boutique hotel, in a palette of grey, black and white, with high-quality fittings such as Italian marble chevron flooring throughout the ground floor and black Murano glass chandeliers. Upstairs, the monochrome continues, with leather headboards, and silk wallpaper and curtains, all in shades of grey.
It’s in the rooms that the hotel’s USP becomes apparent: it’s all about the tech. Whether it’s the underfloor heating in the bathroom, the lighting or the curtains, it’s all operated by finger-tip control pads. The most snazzy is the one that turns the ‘smart glass’ of the white marble bathroom walls opaque for privacy. (Bath-lovers should note that tubs are eschewed in favour of rainfall showers.) The hotel doesn’t take guests under 13.
