A world away from the dreary Eurobustle of Camden Market, lovely 66 Camden Square isn’t actually on Camden Square – it’s on Murray Street, behind 1 Camden Square, an easy no.29 bus hop to town. A radical design by co-owner/architect Rodger Davis allows natural light to flood through the open-plan interior.
Breakfast, taken in the expansive living room or on the terrace, is overseen by Rodger’s hospitable other half Sue and a colourful parrot by the name of Peckham. The two guestrooms (one double, one single) are upstairs, convivial and comfortable.
Neither is en suite, and the owners are keen to point out that they wouldn’t have strangers sharing the bathroom. Rates are simple: £50 per person per night, £5 supplement for one-nighters, maximum stay one week. For pedestrians and cyclists, a newly opened path will get you to St Pancras International in 15 minutes.
