We all know how restorative a yoga class can be, or how energised you can feel after a guided meditation session. But sometimes, heading out with your mat into the chilly night just doesn’t feel right. Instead, why not stream a yoga or meditation class right into your living room? One positive thing to have come from lockdown is that many of the UK’s best studios – from trendy London spots to more traditional Buddhist centres – now offer online classes. And if the last few years have taught us anything, it’s that the balance between going out and enjoying some chill evenings at home is essential. Stretch out that mat, take a deep breath and prepare to go with the flow.

This swanky London studio offers more virtual workouts in its on-demand library than you’ve done downward dogs. Like a Netflix of health and fitness – but with fewer flops – Digme at Home gives you a variety of yoga classes, from the more slow-paced Yin class to Yoga 60, Digme’s own hybrid of traditional practice and strength training. You can subscribe from £8 a month or pay £25 a month and get access to streamed live classes, too. Not ready to commit? Sign up for a 30-day free trial.

Turn the lights down low and settle in for a yoga session from this much-loved Glasgow space. Inspired by the Hindu goddess Kali, this studio harnesses yoga as a powerful ancient tradition and offers many different styles, from dynamic vinyāsa to ‘gentle flow’, which combines movement with meditation and breathing techniques. Just a tenner a month gets you access to hundreds of classes, or you could pay £18 for access to more than 20 online sessions via Zoom.

Got an pilates pro inside you waiting to be released? You’ll feel two inches taller (and probably a bit tired, but in a satisfying way) after an online class by Heartcore. These west London studios are known for their tough, dynamic classes. They’re a bit on the pricey side (you’ll pay £55.25 for six months of an unlimited online membership, or pay-as-you-go for a £12 livestream class) – but it’s totally worth it for some real self-care.

Forget trying to watch a yoga class filmed from the back of a room on someone’s phone – this Sheffield studio has nailed its virtual setup. We’re talking two camera angles, excellent audio quality, countdown timers, and even a piece of tech recording the instructor’s heart rate! There are loads of classes to choose from that you can access with your £20 per month membership (or £15 for a single class), including the relaxing ‘Bliss’ when you just need to destress, ‘Flex’, which builds body strength, and ‘Power’, which ain’t for the faint-hearted.

This well-regarded yoga studio kept its loyal followers limber during lockdown with online classes. These days, you can still stream sessions to your living room from Triyoga’s Camden, Chelsea, Ealing or Shoreditch studios. A single class costs £10, or you could go all-out with unlimited membership for £95 per month (£47.50 for the first month). You might want to prepare for the day ahead in the morning with a chilled-out Yin class, or treat yourself to an after-work yoga nidra, where the teacher will guide you through a state of ‘conscious sleep’ under blankets. Bliss.

To delve deeper into the spiritual dimensions of meditation, consider the online classes provided by the Western Chan Fellowship – a charity associated with Chinese Zen Buddhist practitioners. You definitely don’t need to be a Buddhist to get involved or benefit from their online meditation sessions, though. You’ll be guided through sitting meditation as well as gentle movement practice.

Decided to give yoga a try, but not quite sure where to start? This trendy London brand will beam top-notch classes into your home from just £10.99 a month for on-demand sessions, or £7 for a single livestream. There are loads of options to suit your day, from morning flow yoga to a lunchtime reset class if you need to forget that frustrating meeting you’ve just had. And once the day is done, why not unwind with a slow flow class?

We’ve all been there: you light a scented candle, draw the curtains and sit cross-legged on your mat with the intention of doing some deep meditation. Then the thoughts begin. What are you having for dinner? When are you going to reply to that email? Nightmare. Instead, sign up to one of Rachel Mann’s guided meditation courses, which go for just 20 to 30 minutes each session.
