Blue Tit's Portobello branch is their tenth salon to open in London, and it's clear to see why the boutique brand continues to expand. As in their other locations, the interiors here are a lush combination of geometric patterns, colour blocks and industrial-chic. It's cool, but still has kind of homely vibes; post-work, I wanted to curl up on their gorgeous green sofa as soon as I arrived.
Kamila, the talented co-founder of the salon, who until recently was working in the Dalston branch, cut and coloured my hair. She was bright and enthusiastic – and I trusted her with my locks instantly. I expected to leave with my usual blonde balayage, but, a quick scroll through Blue Tit’s Instagram later, I was lusting after the rainbow of shades previous clients had chosen, from soft lilacs and peaches to vibrant blues. With Kamila’s guidance, I ended up sporting blonde with peachy tones. Blue Tit use a technique called ‘flamboyage’ which produced an instantly natural look, blending my roots into my new colour seamlessly. I left the salon feeling brave with a bouncy, pastel cut, and a big smile on my face.
