In 2011, the shooting by police of 29-year-old Tottenham resident Mark Duggan sparked riots across London. 'The Hard Stop' is an intimate documentary looking back at Duggan's life and the aftermath of his death through the eyes of his friends, family and community. For 28 months, director George Amponsah ('The Fighting Spirit') filmed in and around the Broadwater Farm estate in Tottenham where Duggan grew up.

His film focuses on two of Mark's best friends, Marcus Knox and Kurtis Henville, whose lives have been changed for ever. We follow Marcus and Kurtis as they attempt to move on from the tragedy, looking for work, raising kids and talking frankly about being poor and black in twenty-first century London. What emerges is a profoundly humane, thought-provoking testament, giving a voice to people who are rarely heard in the media.

Time Out Cardholders are invited to watch an exclusive preview of this film on Tuesday July 12, at 6.15 pm for 6:30 start, or 8.15 for 8.30 start. Get your tickets HERE.
