Dalston’s legendary cinema has been up in the loft fetching down all the festive decorations for a month of alternative movie gifts. Rio’s December programming ethos is best described as ‘Christmas plus’, with festive choices that come with a joyous, irreverent flavour. Alongside 'It’s a Wonderful Life', you’ll find Jimmy Stewart in 1958 festive cockle-warming 'Bell, Book and Candle' in a December 15 double bill with 'Carol'. That one comes courtesy of queer film club Pink Palace, which also has Sean Baker’s 'Tangerine' (Dec 13) on the slate. And for a true festive mind-bender, Rebel Reel Cine Club is firing up Jodorowsky’s 'The Holy Mountain' on December 17.
