This year’s theme for what claims to be London’s oldest carnival, dating back to 1898, is ‘Back to Nature’, so expect to encounter lots of members of the animal kingdom. There’s a petting farm and pony rides for younger children, and a mobile zoo plus four West African Dwarf crocodiles for older and bolder kids – the most adventurous can even handle the crocodiles. Active children can take part in the QPR FC five-a-side competition and coaching sessions, plus there’ll be a Met Police helicopter and – wait for it – a Dalek. For grown-ups, there’s a variety of dance and music stages, lots of food and drink, and a range of crafts and produce stalls. Plus that Dalek. It all kicks off with a procession to the park from Hanwell Community Centre in Westcott Crescent, W7 1PD, at 11am.
Free entry to park, various prices for attractions
