Hip hop choreographer Kenrick 'H2O' Sandy's work 'The Five & the Prophecy of Prana' for his company Boy Blue Entertainment is inspired by Japanese manga. Working with Japanese artist Akio Tanaka, the piece tells the story of five young troublemakers sent to a rehabilitation camp run by a grand master of martial arts using a mix of hip hop dance, martial arts moves and comic book style. Fusing storytelling and punchy urban choreography is what Boy Blue do best - as seen in the hit 'Pied Piper' – but the company has faltered a little since that first breakthrough show.
