Triple bill from the Royal Ballet. Russian folk tale 'The Firebird' is one of the most enduring ballets to come out of the Ballets Russes' repertory, choreographed by Mikhail Fokine and set to a dramatic score by Stravinsky. It's a bit lengthy, but the majesty of the final scene is worth the wait. There's a more modern take on ballet from Jerome Robbins in his thoughtful, tender ode to love, 'In the Night', followed by a big finish and more Slavic style in the third act of 'Raymonda', a ballet known for its virtuosic classical showpieces.
