Jazz pianist and composer Julian Joseph joins forces with choreographer Sheron Wray on a new piece 'The Brown Bomber', based on the legendary 1938 boxing match (and enduring friendship) between the African American Joe Louis and German boxer Max Schmeling. The evening is a double bill, with a performance of Joseph's 'Shadowball Suite', adapted from his opera about Negro League baseball in the USA. Performed by a mix of amateur and professional dancers, these shows are essentially previews ahead of a larger performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in July.
