Two pieces choreographed by German maestro Pina Bausch in the 1980s are making their debut in the UK this summer. Bausch's company Tanztheater Wuppertal bring 'On the Mountain a Cry Was Heard', where, on a stage filled with soil, dancers move to songs by the likes of Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf and Henry Purcell. 'Ahnen' is set in a thorny desert on a set designed by Peter Pabst. Over her 40 years in the industry, the late Bausch created an incredible body of work and this will be a thrilling chance to see pieces created by her at the height of her dance powers.
