This charming ballet by Frederick Ashton is inspired by the frosty delights of ice-skating. 'Les Patineurs' was created for Royal Ballet in 1937, and is set on a frozen lakes where pairs of skaters, from fumbling beginners to pirouetting experts, show off their skills. With picture-perfect traditional costumes and spectacular displays of technical ability, it's a refreshing change from the usual Christmas fare of Nutcrackers and Swan Lakes galore.
