The superb, classical Mariinsky Ballet is over from St Petersburg with this season of works danced at the Royal Opera House. Accompanied by the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre this three week season includes Konstantin Sergeyev's 1950 'Swan Lake', with music from Tchaikovsky, where the prince and swan princess fall in love; two ballet's from 20th century choreographer George Balanchine 'Apollo' and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and a triple bill of ballets 'The Firebird', 'Marguerite and Armand' and 'Concerto DSCH'. These guys know how to dance and catching them while in London is a chance to see one of the greatest ballet companies in the world at the moment.
