May 2013 marks one hundred years since the riotous premiere of the Ballets Russes' 'Rite of Spring'. To mark the centenary, Sadler's Wells is presenting A String of Rites, starting with this one, Michael Keegan-Dolan's macho, aggro take on the powerful Stravinsky score and the story of a 'chosen one' sacrificed to the gods. It comes as a double bill along with another Stravinsky ballet, 'Petrushka', newly reinterpreted by Keegan-Dolan in his particular style of dance theatre which tends towards the comical, the surreal and the sinister.
