Coming to Sadler's Wells after a premiere in Paris, this reimagining of Bizet's fiery opera classic 'Carmen' is shot through with Cuban spirit. It's got new salsa and rumba-inspired orchestrations by Tony Award winner Alex Lacamoire (Hamilton), which will be brought to sizzling life by a huge company of actors, singers, and musicians from Cuba. 'Carmen La Cubana' resets the original story to 1958, when the island was in the grip of revolution. It's directed by musical theatre director Christopher Renshaw, who's behind Broadway's sumptuous 1996 revival of 'The King and I'.
