Choreographer Mayuri Boonham was previously co-director of South Asian dance company Angika, but now she's set up on her own with a new group, ATMA, and two new works 'Sivaloka' and 'Ghatam'. Drawing on Boonham's background in bharata natyam dance, but with a solidly contemporary sensibility, 'Sivaloka' explores Hindu philosophy, while 'Ghatam' is inspired by Steve Reich's 'Drumming' and is based around the sound of the classical Indian percussion instrument, the ghatam. Music is by Indian electronica composer Midival Punditz.
