Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre was founded back in 1958, with the aim of showcasing African-American dancers in New York. They're landing in London this September, with three separate programmes of brilliant dance.
Programme C includes Aszure Barton's 'LIFT', which features dance set to complex rhythmic patterns, 'Awakening', and two works by the company's founder Ailey. One is 'Revelations', and the other is his solo 'Cry', which he choreographed in honour of his mother's birthday.
