Afrovibes Festival

This biennial festival of live and visual arts from South Africa features drama dance, pop ups and music performed over two venues - the Albany and Stratford Circus. Included is 'Biko's Quest' a dance piece about anti-apartheid activist Steven Biko while he is in police custody aged 29 in 1977 (Albany, Oct 15-16, 7.30pm); 'Skierlik' a drama about a man who went on a racially motivated killing spree in 2008 (Albany, Oct 16-17, 7.45pm / Stratford Circus Oct 14-15, 8pm); musicians The Soil featuring an a cappella trio of township jazz, hip hop and Afro-pop (Albany, Oct 18 7.45/Stratford Circus Oct 14-15, 8pm). This year marks the 20th anniversary of democracy in the country, so is sure to be an extra special blast.
