Aegis Live Arts: Thicker Than Blood

A dance performance by Aegis Live Arts inspired by English history. The rather long title says it all: 'Thicker Than Blood: Love, faith and death in the English Reformation from 1533 and into the reign of Elizabeth I'. The piece celebrates the first women leaders of England – featuring Lady Jane Grey, 'Bloody Mary' and Elizabeth 'The Virgin Queen' – and is danced by a young company of eight, choreographed by Julia K Gleich. 'Thicker Than Blood' is specifically created for its setting, the medieval St Olave's Church, with Tudor-inspired costumes by Michelle Buckley. Duration: 35 minutes.
