A Harlem Dream

Ivan Blackstock, co-founder of BirdGang Dance Company stages the world premiere of his hip hop commission, as part of the Dance Umbrella festival. Taking its inspiration from the Harlem Renaissance - which emerged as a response to the Great Depression - Blackstock's piece mixes popping, locking and burlesque all to a soundtrack from Soweto Kinch.
