Matthew Warchus, the Old Vic's new head honcho (or 'Artistic Director', to give him his official title) is taking the theatre back to its roots, with Sunday night variety and vaudeville gigs.
The first Old Vic Variety Night, on November 15, features a rare spot from wild-haired Aussie musical comedy maestro Tim Minchin (who, coincidentally, is previewing his new 'Groundhog Day' musical at the Old Vic next year). Plus there are appearances from stunt magician Dynamo, understated stand-up (and Minchin mate) Mark Watson and brass ensemble the Tredegar Town Band.
