Now here's a New Year's bash with a difference. Across the entire Southbank Centre, seven decades of music will be played and performed in a setting designed by Wayne and Gaerardine Hemingway (of the Vintage Festival). Spanning everything from an 18-piece 1940s Swing orchestra to a set by Acid jazz DJ Eddie Piller, the centre will offer seven hours of music in spaces such as a 1920s Torch Club, a Pick Up Joint pub and a soul casino, plus food concessions themed to the different eras and, at midnight, a move to the outdoor terrace to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks display.
