Norman Jay MBE is true Carnival royalty. His aptly named Good Times Soundsystem has been blasting out sun-kissed soul, funk, hip hop, jazz and R&B since the '80s, and is still a Carnival staple all these years later. The GT after party is also known for being a guaranteed groove ticket, and this year the line-up is as strong as ever – even in the unlikely post-Carnival location of Holborn – with a loose drum and bass theme running through it. D&B stalwart Nicky Blackmarket will be rinsing out a party-primed set, and Russ Jay – Norman's son – will be teaming up with cousin Melvo to keep the funk running in the family. Good times indeed.
