Independent record/design label Massive Arms pay unashamedly silly and brilliant salute to perhaps the finest comic character of the last few decades, Alan Partridge. They’re hosting an Alan-themed disco with all the soft rock, pop cheese and MOTR classics that the man himself played on his graveyard shift radio show: Abba, Crowded House, Thin Lizzy, UB40, Def Leppard, the theme from ‘Black Beauty’ (‘This is brilliant’) and Wings – for all you youngsters, that’s the band The Beatles could have been. If you’re lucky, there’ll be ladyboys (the cocktail, probably) and discount Terry’s Chocolate Oranges. Disclaimer: if you don’t like catchphrases being shouted out loudly and frequently, don’t go to this, and sit at home and do something cool and miserable instead. The rest of you, prepare for glorious cries of ‘Kiss my face’, ‘Jurassic Park’, and ‘SMELL MY CHEESE, YOU MUTHA!’
