Founded in 1936, the Players' Theatre Club has been dedicated to revisiting the songs and atmosphere of Victorian music hall for three-quarters of a century, mixing living social history with a good old singalong – truly a case of living history with a smile on its face, from the bawdy to the sentimental to the socially telling. Its performing members today range in age from 14 to 80-plus and this event should be a treat: legend has it that the vintage music-hall environs of Hoxton Hall once played host to Marie Lloyd, an inspiration for the Players' director-producer Jan Hunt.
