If you regularly use Holborn station, you'll be well aware of the standing-only escalators they've tried (but mostly failed) to enforce. But now commuters using Holborn station will have to prepare themselves for even more disruption to their journey, thanks to months of escalator refurbishment set to start on August 22.

During the works, there will be no access from the Central line to Piccadilly line between 7.30am and 10am on weekdays – y'know, the time when everyone is trying to get to work. Oh, and it's going to go on until autumn 2017. But that's not all. The station will also be exit-only during the morning rush hour until March 2018.

There are seven escalators that need refurbishing and they'll be working on two at a time. Let's just hope they've ditched the standing-only rules by the time the refurbishment kicks off.
