Flat hunting in London is a nightmare, but every so often you stumble along something so brilliantly cheap, so nicely located and so well connected that you think to yourself ‘there has to be a catch’. We imagine that’s exactly what went through the head of whoever first spotted this ad for a £95-per-week pad near Chiswick Park on Gumtree – and they were right.
The ad explains that it’s a ‘Spacious single studio with kitchenette and own shower, pine furniture and double bed situated on Ravenscroft Road W4.’ What it doesn’t mention is that the shower is in the kitchen. The flimsy, limescaley box is situated right next to the kitchen work surface.
This isn’t the first flat in London to have a strange shower situation. In March 2015, we were shocked by an online ad for a £520pcm property in West Kensington with a shower under the bed. (A good way to turn your bedroom into a steam room, perhaps?)
Plus, early that year a Docklands flat with a shower, sofa and bed all in the same room went up for rent for £800 per month. Compared to the other two showery situations though, it’s not actually that bad.
