Earlier this year, we brought you the news that work had finally begun on turning the legendary Mail Rail (the old Post Office Underground Railway that closed in 2003) into a museum and underground ride. The long-awaited attraction won't be opening its doors until early 2017, but if you've got a passion for stamps and the subterranean, there is a way you could get a peak at the place before anyone else.

The folks behind restoration project are calling on people to sponsor wooden sleepers, which, after 90 years of service, could do with a bit of TLC to get them restored to their former glory.

Admittedly, the sponsorship doesn't come cheap, but can you put a price on this city's history? Well, yes, you can, and it's £250 in this case. But if you're willing to part with the cash, you'll be rewarded with a certificate of Mail Rail sleeper sponsorship, two tickets to ride the Mail Rail before it opens to the public, exclusive Mail Rail postcards and a 'Walk the Rails' tour around the tunnels.

Find out more about how to sponsor a sleeper.

See what happened when we went behind the scenes at the Mail Rail.
