London might sometimes be relentlessly rainy and full of smog, but it can also scrub up pretty damn well. And we're not the only ones who think so – snap-happy people can't get enough of our lovely city, with Instagrammers having used the London hashtag over 45 million times.
To get a bit more specific, the folks behind the app have used data from the geotagging feature to find out which are the top ten Instagrammed UK locations from 2015 – and it turns out they're all in London. It won't come as a shock that the list is made up entirely of tourist hotspots, and in at number one is the ultimate London selfie backdrop, Tower Bridge. It's followed by Hyde Park and the London Eye in second and third place.
Weirdly, Heathrow Airport came in at number eight, which can only be accounted for by a combination of the smug rainy aeroplane window shot and the pre-flight Whetherspoons boozing snap, because there's absolutely nothing aesthetically pleasing about terminal one. London also dominated every single slot on the top ten most geotagged UK museums, with the British Museum scooping the top spot. And on the list of the most geotagged cities in the world, London came third, only outdone by New York and Paris. See the full lists below:
