On screen he's known for playing gangsters, psychopaths and villains. But Tom Hardy turned good-guy hero IRL at the weekend, catching a suspected moped thief. Witnesses have been telling The Sun how the actor chased after the fleeing culprit through gardens and across a building site. ‘It was mental,’ one bystander told the paper. ‘Like he’d switched to superhero mode in an action movie.’
The actor was out and about near his home in Richmond when he spotted the suspect crash a stolen moped, tore after him and made a citizen’s arrest. ‘I caught the c**t,’ he apparently declared.
Another witness told The Sun that the ‘Taboo’ actor searched the man, patting him down: ‘Tom Hardy’s clearly not a man you’d mess with. I think he even checked the kid’s ID before cops took over.’
Another said the actor was easy to spot: ‘There was no mistaking him. He looked as mad as he does on telly.'
We’ll next see Hardy in Christopher Nolan’s epic WWII drama 'Dunkirk', which will be released in the summer. The 39-year-old actor has also confirmed rumours that he has a cameo in ‘Star Wars Episode VIII’.
