Tongue & Brisket
What do we know?
The creators of B&K Salt Beef began perfecting their recipe over sixty years ago and are now bringing their salty beefy wondrousness to Holborn. If it’s anything like its sister branch in Soho, the new Tongue & Brisket will be worth checking out. Grab one of their signature hand-carved salt beef, tongue or chicken schnitzel sandwiches and hotfoot it back to your desk – or take a seat, dig in and feel very, very smug.
Rum Kitchen Brixton
What do we know?
Carnival is tantalisingly close and the third Rum Kitchen site has landed in Brixton to get us all in the groove. Sup on rum-based cocktails from their hefty selection and watch newbie dishes like red snapper with mixed pepper escovitch cooking on the kitchen’s open charcoal oven. Of course, there’ll be the classic jerk chicken bowl and 18-hour pork belly ribs but if you can't get enough of their special sauces, you’ll be able to buy them bottled on site. Get down there between 4pm and 7pm for £5 cocktails.
Calcutta Street
What do we know?
After multiple triumphant pop-ups, Shrimoyee Chakraborty is bringing Bengali home dining to a permanent space in Fitzrovia. Each dish is inspired by her childhood in Calcutta and made with seasonal home-grown ingredients – expect doi phuchka, crispy semolina balls filled with potato, black chickpeas and tamarind, plus jumbo prawns in a coconut and mustard sauce. As well as a casual downstairs restaurant, Calcutta Street offers communal dining for up to twenty - so you can host a dinner party without lifting a finger.
