Ready, steady, EAT!

Cha Chaan Teng

Soft launch: Monday August 8-Wednesday August 31 with 50 percent off food.

Opens: Monday August 8

Reimagining the popular cafés of ’50s Hong Kong, Cha Chaan Teng will serve up Chinese comfort food with western influences. Think crispy duck with French toast and orange maple and a riff on prawn toast – this time, with lobster. All to be paired with with Eastern-inspired tea cocktails. And we can’t not mention the cinnamon doughnut buns with condensed milk dipping sauce. HELLO.

Kerb Camden Market

Opens: Friday August 12

Street food market Kerb has been winding its way around London for a while but thankfully, it’s getting a permanent home – in a newly glammed-up Camden Market. A belt-busting 35 stalls will include fried chicken favourites Mother Clucker, Korean-Mexican mash-up Kimchinary, Crabbieshack and sweet treats from Cupcakes ‘n Shhht and ice-cream sandwich aficionados Blu Top Ice Cream. Arrive hungry.

Boondocks

Soft launch: Wednesday August 17 with 50 percent off food.

Opens: Saturday August 20

First there was Stax Diner on Carnaby Street, now there’s Boondocks, a Southern American grub joint behind Moorfields Eye Hospital. Chef and creative director Bea Vo, best known for launching Bea's of Bloomsbury, will be rustling up the same classic burgers, chicken and waffles, but adding new plates such as chicken-fried steak, buttermilk biscuit sandwiches and peach cobbler. Just like momma would have wanted.
