Next week sees the launch of Movies on the River, the first ever open-air cinema to sail the Thames – and there are still tickets left to watch classic movies this summer while floating past some of the city’s most famous sights.

Time Out’s Movies on the River with City Cruises opens on Thursday June 15 with a screening of ‘Jaws’ – but that’s already sold out (although we’ve added another screening of the 1970s Steven Spielberg classic for Saturday July 1).

But fear not: there are plenty of tickets left for other screenings as Time Out’s movie boat will sail five nights a week from Tower Pier in June and July. You'll enjoy a sunset cruise until the sun goes down, and then we’ll screen a movie on the boat’s open-air top deck once it gets dark.

We’re especially excited by some of the popular London movies we’re showing over the first few days: ‘Shakespeare in Love’ on Tuesday June 20, ‘Mary Poppins’ on Wednesday June 21 and ‘Love Actually’ on Thursday June 22. Not only will you be able to enjoy these much-loved films while sitting on the deck of a cruise boat (wearing silent disco-style headphones), but you’ll be able to watch the city float by at the same time.

Oh, and did we tell you we'll have a fully-stocked bar for you to buy drinks and snacks from while the movie plays?

Ahoy, sailor! Now please pass the popcorn…
