You've listened to his comforting vocal fry for countless 'This American Life' podcasts, you've heard his influence all over 'Serial' and you often wonder how his crazy dog Piney is (ok, maybe that's just me), but you've probably not seen a photo of the great man himself. Well, here he is (above). And not only have you now seen 'This American Life' founder and host Ira Glass's face, you can soon see it in in all it's fleshy glory as he's making a rare appearance in London this August with his stage show 'Three Acts, Two Dancers, One Radio Host' at the Royal Festival Hall on August 16. We chatted to Ira about the show who described it as being like 'This American Life', plus dancing'. So expect Ira standing up on stage telling stories with words, and the dancers channeling the emotion of the stories through movement. Sounds like it might not work but they've been touring it for three years and it's been a smash hit. This is the first time they're coming to the UK and the last time they're ever performing it so it's set to be a big night. Get tickets now or weep later.
We chatted to Ira about the show who described it as being like 'This American Life', plus dancing'. So expect Ira standing up on stage telling beautiful sad, funny, wonderful stories with words, and the dancers channeling the emotion of those stories through movement. Easy. Sounds like it might not work but they've been touring it for three years and it's been a smash hit. This is the first time they're coming to the UK and the last time they're ever performing it so it's set to be a big night. Get tickets now or weep later.
