There are many reasons to vote in the general election on June 8, but if having your say on the future of the country isn’t enough motivation, how about free beer? Oh, now you’re interested, huh?
In a bid to encourage first-time voters to register to vote (and actually vote, obviously), someone’s launched a campaign called Vote This Year Get Free Beer, and it does exactly what it says on the tin.
All you have to do is register to vote and show your confirmation email to any participating pubs. They’ll hand over a free pint (or equivalent drink, if you’re booze-free or not a beer fan), and everyone’s happy. So far, four pubs in London (and 24 across the country) have signed up to the campaign. And if free beer won't convince people to vote, then we really are screwed.
These are the London pubs participating so far:
The Beast of Brixton, 89B Acre Lane, SW2 5TN
Spit and Sawdust, 21 Bartholomew St, SE1 4AL
The Queens Head, 15 Denman St, W1D 7HN
The Grosvenor Arms, 204 Garratt Lane, SW18 4ED
Don’t need to be bribed by booze? Here’s how to register to vote for the general election 2017.
