What else is London, but a busy, smoggy, beautiful backdrop for eager Instagrammers? Slightly oddly, the folks at Witter Towbars (a towbar specialist, obvs) have tallied up the most Instagrammed spots in the UK over the past year and it’s no surprise that London dominates.
The Ledbury in Notting Hill was the setting for more Instagram posts than any other restaurant in the country over the last year, featuring in no less than 4,760 posts.
Hot on its heels were the Le Gavroche in Mayfair, with 2,785 posts, Bethnal Green’s Typing Room, with 1,694 and Tangia in Tooting, with 934.
Islington’s The Lexington was London’s most Instagrammed bar with 6,289 posts, followed by Camden Town Brewery on 5,692 posts, Piccadilly Circus's Bar Americain with 2,966 and Stax Diner in Carnaby Street with 1,973.
Unsurprisingly, tourist hotspot Big Ben took the top prize as the most photographed attraction of the past year, with a whopping 2,011,876 Instagram posts.
In fact, over half of the 50 most Instagrammed attractions in the UK are in London, with Westminster on 581,908 posts, Buckingham Palace on 496,218, Tate Modern at 334,218 and the Tower of London at 269,261.
