Yup, you read that right. City-wide pizza/pasta-slinging types Made in Italy are celebrating the opening of their new Northcote Road site – the dubiously named Made in Italy 3.0 – by dishing up pay-what-you-want pizza for three whole days next week. That means free pizza for skinflints and very cheap pies for the more ethically robust. Ding ding!

Made in Italy 3.0 is a ‘concept’ joint. Okay, okay, stop groaning back there! All that means is that they’re doing five different bases – multigrain, classic Neapolitan, stone-ground type two, gluten-free and a monthly special – and a host of gluten-intolerant and vegan creations. These will variously be topped with things like Made in Italy’s homemade burrata, Bolognan mortadella, smoked mozzarella and vegan rice cheese, among other bits. There will also be a fried variation stuffed with ciccioli pork crackling. Seriously. How’s that for a slice of fried gold?

The pay-what-you-want soft launch will take place from Monday May 22 to Thursday May 25, applying to all food (you’ll have to fork out for drinks, soz).

Too long to wait for a pizza the action? Then chomp through our list of London’s best pizza places.
